The 2022 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony begins on Sunday, November 20. It is expected to start at 19:30 IST (14:00 GMT). The ceremony will be followed by the opening match of the tournament, which will be held between Qatar and Ecuador at 21.00 IST.

The ceremony takes place at Al Bayt Stadium (capacity of 60,000 seats) i Al Khor. Al Bayt was one of the stadiums built for the World Cup and it will host six group matches, a round of 16 match and a semi-final in this tournament.

What happens at the opening ceremony?

On November 12, BTS’s official Twitter account announced that their star singer Jungkook would be one of the performers at Sunday’s opening ceremony.

He also tweeted that he would be contributing to the tournament’s official soundtrack. The tweet read, “Proud to announce that Jung Kook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack and will be performing at the World Cup Opening Ceremony. Stay tuned!”
