The 30-year-old, who was on target twice in Friday’s 3-0 friendly win over Niger, has been left out of the squad for Tuesday’s game in Alexandria, along with striker Mostafa Mohamed and defender Ahmed Fatouh.

Egypt failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup in Qatar, losing in a playoff to African champions Senegal.

Salah will look to add to his two league goals this season when Liverpool visit Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. Juergen Klopp’s team is in eighth place with nine points after six matches.
