The report states that the swelling is a result of frozen gel, part of cryotherapy treatment to avoid the use of anti-inflammatory drugs. Messi himself has shown no signs of discomfort and fully participated in the session, finishing the training well.

“I feel very well physically, I think I’m in a good moment, both personally and physically, and I have no problems,” said Messi, who did light training away from his teammates on Saturday, told a news conference on Monday.

“I heard that they said that I trained differently. It was because I had a stroke, but there is nothing strange (happening). It was just a precaution.”

The 35-year-old, who will play his fifth World Cup in Qatar. He came close to lifting the trophy in 2014 when Argentina fell short in the final against Germany. 2022 will most likely be his last hurray and Messi will be hoping to end it well with the only trophy missing from his cabinet.
