According to sources, the CBI is probing allegations that Singapore-based match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal has invested in Indian clubs through Living 3D Holdings Ltd. Wilson has been convicted in Finland and Hungary and was first jailed for match-fixing in Singapore in 1995.

The notorious international match-fixer has been accused of fixing matches at all levels, including the Olympics, World Cup qualifiers, the Women’s World Cup, the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the African Cup of Nations.

“The AIFF has zero tolerance for match-fixing and we have written to the clubs asking them to cooperate with the investigation,” AIFF general secretary Shaji Prabhakaran told TOI on Saturday. “There are concerns about investments made by shell companies linked to the fixer. We will do whatever is necessary to ensure that Indian football has no connection with anyone remotely linked to match-fixing.”

The CBI has also written to each club separately to request information on all contracts, sponsorships as well as companies involved in employing foreign athletes and technical staff.

Indian Arrows, the AIFF’s development team that competed in the I-League but was axed this season by the new executive committee, led by former India goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey, is one of the five clubs under investigation.

All five clubs surveyed competed in the I-League.

“We cannot really understand how the Indian Arrows are among the five clubs. The Arrows were funded by the AIFF and the Odisha government and had no foreign players or foreign staff (for the last four years). It could possibly be some people who are associated with the team,” another official told TOI.
