Koke has recently made over 555 appearances for the Roji Blancos. The midfielder has been influential in Spain’s qualification for the World Cup in Qatar. He featured in five of the eight qualifying matches for Spain. The player has started his rehabilitation since he primarily examined the injury on Monday. However, Atletico Madrid officials are yet to confirm how much time Koke may need to return to action.

Marca have claimed the midfielder will be out for at least three weeks given the extent of his injury. This puts him in great doubt about a place in the Spanish squad. Luis Enrique is expected to announce a squad in early November. The player is quite reliable in midfield with 67 caps to his name for Spain.

The Spanish gaffer has already suffered a blow earlier this week with a hamstring injury to Villareal striker Gerard Moreno. Enrique will surely want to go to the World Cup with all the firepower he has. They have been placed in a difficult group consisting of Germany, Costa Rica and Japan. The Spanish Armada kick off their World Cup campaign against Costa Rica on November 23.
