Qatar World Cup Opening Ceremony: Qatar is expected to host around 1.5 million fans during the World Cup matches. The smallest country ever to host a World Cup, Qatar has an existing population of 3 million and around 1.2 million fans are expected to attend the tournament. The final will be held at Lusail Stadium.

Covid-19 rules: Visiting fans are not required to have a COVID-19 test before flying to Qatar. However, fans who test Covid-19 positive in Qatar will have to isolate and follow measures in accordance with Qatari laws. Masks are mandatory.

EHTERAZ contact tracing application: Qatar’s official contract tracking application is Ehteraz. Fans must download the mobile app and activate it. In addition, online registration prior to entry must be done via www.ehteraz.gov.qa at least three days prior to arrival.

Hayya card: Fans must apply for Hayya cards. It is an official fan ID which provides free public transport around Doha and is also an entry visa. They can also collect a physical copy of their digital Hayya card.

Access restrictions: Access to Qatar is restricted until December 23 to citizens, residents and World Cup Hayya card holders only.

Accommodation: Fans have booked accommodation in more than 90,000 rooms, apartments, tents, villas and cottages in Qatar.

FIFA World Cup TICKETS – How to get tickets: Tickets are available in the FIFA ticket portal. Fans must create an account to purchase tickets. Also, third-party websites also sell tickets.

Clothing: It is not allowed to remove jerseys in stadiums. Excessively revealing clothing is recommended to be avoided. “It is generally recommended for men and women to ensure that their shoulders and knees are covered.” read a statement issued by Qatar Tourism on their website.

Prices for alcohol and beer: Visitors may not bring alcohol into the country. It will be served in licensed restaurants and fan zones. The legal drinking age is 21 and an original photo ID is also required. Only Budweiser beer will be served in the fan zones and will cost Qatari Riyal 50 (INR 1121.46).

Payment method: All major credit cards are accepted and ATMs are also widely available.

Weather: The temperature is expected to be as low as 14 degrees Celsius and as high as 25 degrees Celsius.
