Derek Hough and girlfriend Hayley Erbert engaged after 7-year romance
Derek Hough and girlfriend Hayley Erbert are officially engaged, after a seven-year romance.
The Dancing with the Stars favorite, 37, confirmed the news on Instagram, and was met by a string of congratulatory messages.
In the stunning snap, he could be seen picking up his wife-to-be, 27, and pulling her into an embrace.
‘It’s only the beginning…the beginning of forever,’ he captioned the post – with Hayley posting the same picture and message on her own page.
Right on cue, their famous friends flooded his post with congratulatory messages for the happy couple.
Jenna Dewan led the way, penning: ‘Awwwwww yay congratulations!!!!!!’
Amber Riley followed suit, commenting; ‘Congratulations you two!’
Zedd replied: ‘CONGRATULATIONS MY BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINES.’
As Ariana DeBose simply added: ‘Congrats to you sir!!!!!!’
The pair first started dating in 2015, after meeting as pro dancers on DWTS, and have been inseparable ever since.
They initially tried to keep their romantic bond quiet before finally going public with the relationship.
‘It’s just tiring. It was liberating, honestly, just being like, “Hey, this is our relationship. This is cool. This is what it is and it’s great”,’ Derek told Entertainment Tonight of keeping their romance under wraps.
“I think I just kind of got almost conditioned to feel or believe that I have to hide everything. When in reality I was just like, ‘You know what? There’s a freedom to just being open about it.
‘It’s been wonderful and it’s brought us closer together in certain things. It just feels good. It feels light.’
Derek also spilled the beans on possible plans to get down on one knee all the way back in 2016, lifting the lid on his hopes to take things with Hayley to the next level.
‘You know, if you would have asked me like a year ago, or two years ago, I’d probably [have been] like: “I’m not really looking [for that],”’ he said on possibly walking down the aisle during a stint on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
‘But I’m in a place now in my life, in a transition, and yeah – I see myself married with kids within the next five years, so we’ll see.’
