According to a report in metro.co.uk, the talismanic forward has landed in hot soup after the interview as the club are set to fine him. However, the 20-time Premier League champions are yet to issue any official statement about the interview.

Ronaldo’s plight comes after he was fined two weeks’ wages for refusing to come onto the bench and go down the tunnel before the final whistle during Manchester United’s win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Ronaldo admitted he has felt ‘betrayed’ at Manchester United ever since rejoining the club. The striker did not mince words during the interview when he mentioned that he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag as he feels he is being forced out of the club.

Asked if United’s hierarchy tried to force him out of the club, Ronaldo said: “Yes, not just the coach [Erik ten Hag], but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.”

Asked again if senior club officials were trying to oust him, the 37-year-old said: “I don’t care. People should listen to the truth.

“Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt that some people don’t want me here, not only this year but also last year.”

“I don’t respect him because he doesn’t respect me,” Ronaldo told Morgan. “If you don’t respect me, I will never respect you.”

The Portuguese was absent from Manchester United’s squad against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup tie due to illness. He was keen to leave the club at the start of the season, but he decided to remain at the Premier League club despite not having received.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, have not considered Ronaldo as a first-choice option going forward in the Premier League as he continues to play second fiddle to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
