Indian fans are among the highest number of applicants for tickets for this World Cup. India is 7th among the top countries that applied for a ticket to the Qatar World Cup after the first phase of ticket sales. This is the first time that FIFA has hosted this event in Asia since 2002 and therefore there is a boom in the number of Asian populations visiting the World Cup.

Saad Al – Suwaidi, the head of the Hayya Pass service, revealed the number of people expected to show up for the Qatar World Cup so far. The numbers are staggering for a small nation like Qatar. To put the numbers into perspective, Brazil’s 2014 World Cup saw 1 million foreign fans visit the country. The World Cup in Brazil went down as the second most attended World Cup in FIFA history.

The FIFA World Cups have accumulated a huge number of more than three million participants for three consecutive years. That status is expected to be maintained with this huge number of card applications this season. On top of that, a significant number of local fans are also expected to watch the matches.

All travelers, football fans or not, must show the mandatory passport for the football World Cup from 1 November. This pass will also act as a visa, a match ticket, a transport ticket as well as access to certain fan zones.
